Are
you interested in going back to school and looking for sources of funds to help
with the cost?
The
St. Lawrence County One-Stop Career Center may have funding available to assist
adult –independent college students with a Workforce Investment
Act (WIA) grant of up to $2,000.00 for the fall 2014 semester.
Candidates
must be able to apply for financial aid as an independent student - not
including any parents’ income. Students should be enrolled in a vocationally
specific degree or certificate program, with an anticipated graduation
within 24 months. Examples would include Accounting, Engineering, Building
Trades, Computer Information Systems and most Health Care programs.
WIA
funds may only be applied to direct school costs of tuition, fees and books.
WIA funds cannot replace any TAP, PELL, VA, or any other grant or scholarship
awards. Students who have these costs covered by grant or scholarship aid may
not receive any WIA award.
Students
must meet WIA eligibility guidelines, to be verified by One-Stop Career Center
staff. Funding is limited and eligibility for WIA must be completed prior
